The letter below is one of the fantastic news that we recently received from our great alma mater.

It is indeed re-assuring to know that the current generations of Great Ife students are continuing the blazing academic prowess and intellectual pride of Great Ife, to the glory of God our creator.

Great Ife Forever

Subject: Goldman Sachs: 2009 Internship

Dear Professor Faborode,

I hope you are well, it has been a while since we were last in contact!

I would like to briefly update you on the progress that we have made with recruiting from Nigeria since we were last in contact. During April this year Goldman Sachs hosted a Spring Internship for first and second year students in our London offices. We invited 23 students from Africa to join us on this internship programme and I’m pleased to say that 6 of these were Nigerian students. I’m thrilled to say that 5 of these 6 students were from Obafemi Awolowo University. Your students, Oluwafemi Kuti, Gbenga Ajayi, Olusola Ayeni, Francis Okwerekwu, and Olalekan Olude, were exceptional and were a credit to their universities and country. We hope to see most, if not all, of them return for another, longer internship with us during the summer of 2009.

It would appear that we have been successful in our marketing of the opportunities at Goldman Sachs to the students at your university, this is thanks to your and your staff’s kind support. It is my sincere hope that we are able to replicate this success again later this year when we embark upon the recruitment drive for the Spring Internship 2009.

I am planning to return soon to Lagos to host another marketing presentation to students to help build awareness of Goldman Sachs and the opportunities we have available at the firm for the internship in 2009. In addition to the company presentation we will be running sessions on how students can write effective CVs and give them tips on how to succeed in a job interview. At the moment I’m thinking of returning to Lagos at the end of June, do you think this would fit in well with the students of Obafemi Awolowo University?

I hope you don’t mind me getting in contact with you again, you and your staff were such a huge help and support to me last year and I have been truly appreciative of your kind efforts.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind regards,

Olivia
